KEY INFORMATION

WHAT HAPPENS AFTER I MAKE CONTACT?

After you have been in touch via email, a free 15 min intro session can be arranged to take place by phone.  This call would be spent exploring what has brought you to therapy.  You can also ask any questions you may have and find out more about the way I work and whether this fits with what you need and want.  If you choose to schedule subsequent sessions, they would be 50 mins in length and would usually take place weekly.

When working with couples, friends, family members, or work colleagues, the core of our work typically takes place in joint sessions, where we meet together. After our initial joint session, I will usually schedule an individual session with each of you. This allows me to get to know you more personally and provides a space where you can share anything that might feel difficult to express with the other person present.

To support this process, I hold a confidentiality agreement with each individual client. This helps to create a safe and respectful space for personal reflection, while also allowing us to have open conversations about what may be helpful or appropriate to bring back into joint sessions.

As our work progresses, individual sessions may also be useful from time to time. These can offer an opportunity to explore personal experiences or patterns that are affecting the relationship but may be harder to fully address in joint sessions. We may also discuss together whether sharing certain insights in a future joint session could support your relationship moving forward.

HOW MANY SESSIONS WOULD I NEED TO HAVE?

It could be that you have specific goals for your therapy, or you might be unsure what is causing your distress.  In either case, we will talk about the time frame of the therapy at the start and at regular intervals to establish how you feel the work is meeting your needs. You can choose to have sessions for as long as feels helpful to you.  Some people find that six sessions meet their needs, while others require a year or more.

ARE SESSIONS ONLINE OR IN-PERSON?

I offer in-person sessions in two locations, as listed below.  I am also open to working on organisational premises, as long as a confidential room is available.

A private residence in Bromley Heath (BS16): Sessions take place in a comfortable and confidential room.   Off road parking is available and bikes can be left in a secure garage.

The Harbourside Practice Talking Therapy Rooms: 3 Redcliffe Parade East, Redcliffe, Bristol, BS1 6SW - view on Google maps. (Please note, I have no current availability at this location, but I do hold a waiting list)

Redcliffe Parade car park is opposite the rooms (£2.50 per hour), as well as a bike rack.  Other car parks are near by.

Accessibility: Please note that both rooms are up one or two flights of stairs.

In keeping with my personal approach to counselling, I offer sessions primarily in person, as I believe this best supports the therapeutic relationship. I also like to offer creative tools as part of the work, which tend to be most effective in a shared physical space. However, I understand that unexpected circumstances can arise, and in such cases, I’m happy to offer online sessions when needed. These are held via Google Meet.

HOW MUCH DOES IT COST?

Sessions are 50 mins.

Individual counselling: £60

Personal relationship counselling £80

Professional relationship counselling £90

HOW CAN I PAY FOR MY SESSIONS?

Clients and/or their employer will be invoiced a month in advance and payments can be made via bank transfer.

Any fee adjustments for the current month will be applied to the following month.  If the work ends mid-way through the month, you will be reimbursed for any fee adjustments and/or unused sessions.

WHAT HAPPENS IF I NEED TO CANCEL?

Clients are asked to give at least 48 hours' notice if they are unable to attend their session.  If you do not attend, or cancel without notice, you will still be charged in full for your session.  Rescheduling is only offered if 48 hours notice is given and is subject to availability.

If sessions are missed on three or more occasions in a row, the session time will be re-opened for new clients.
